Patrick Dempsey Biography

Irish American Patrick Dempsey made his way back to Hollywood in the hit drama series Grey's Anatomy. Dempsey played the role of Dr. Derek Shepherd, a neurosurgeon who proved otherwise that there are great, interesting, not to mention attractive men in the medical profession. Dempsey was once an acclaimed actor with a great following during his peak years in 1980's. One of his major films during his teen years includes Can't Buy Me Love with Amanda Peterson. This movie was showed in 1987 when Dempsey was only 21. This 5' 10 ½ hunk actor is a native of Lewiston, Maine. He grew up in Tuner and attended St. Dominic Regional High School and Buckfield High School in his early years. Although, he dropped out in his senior year, he tried to be good at other things. He was actually a juggler and even joined national competition for juggling. One of the first stage productions of Dempsey was The Torch Song Trilogy. His first audition for this play was very positive that then after, he started to audition for other acting roles. He was even featured in MTV's Overnight Success where he showed his talent in dancing and juggling. For the years that Dempsey spends in Hollywood, he managed to bring home several awards. In 1988, during his younger years, he won the Young Artist Award for Best Young Actor in a Motion Picture-Comedy for Can't Buy Me Love. During the 90's he is a regular in television shows including Will & Grace and Once and Again. He starred in a number of films including Freedom Writers, The Emperor's Club and Sweet Home Alabama. In 2007, he won the Best Actor Award for Grey's Anatomy during the Screen Actors Guild Awards. In the same year, he won the People's Choice Award for Favorite Male TV Star. He also got for himself an Emmy nomination and two Golden Globes nominations. Dempsey's first wife is Rocky Parker who is actually 21 years older than he is. The ex-couple met while filming the movie Loverboy when Parker was 48. Five years later, Dempsey remarried the famed make up artist Jillian Fink who is actually the founder of Delux Beauty. The couple had three beautiful children together. Unknown to many, during his pastime, Dempsey enjoys car racing. He even spent time in participating in racecar competitions. He joined the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and is set to be in the Rolex 24 event at Daytona. He is so enthusiastic in big toys for the boys like Panoz and Pro Miata cars. With such passion for car sports, he spearheaded IndyCar Series team Vision Racing. Aside from sports car, he also loves collecting antiques items and often remodels his house. Skiing is also one of his favorite hobbies. Dempsey's smile and rugged hair gives him that laidback character that definitely made him a hit among Grey Anatomy's fans all over the world. On top of all his achievements, he was also voted number 13 at Elle Magazine's 15 Sexiest Men in 2007.
